The Department of Politics and International Relations is committed to supporting staff and students who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Plus (LGBTQ+) and creating an inclusive space for LGBTQ+ staff and students where they can feel safe and fulfil their potential.

The Department has a dedicated LGBTQ+ Officer, Dr Susan Forde

Information for staff

The University benefits from a Staff Sexual Diversity and Equality Forum which was launched on 25 February 2008 by the Vice-Chancellor. The Forum aims to inform and influence the University’s approach to equality by contributing experience, expertise and ideas, offering opportunities for peer networking, support and development, and aims to provide an important channel for the University to seek the views of its diverse staff community.

The Students Union also has its own LGBTQ+ officer who runs an LGBTQ+ network which meets weekly.
