SCoPe was created in 2018 to bring together scholars from across the University’s three faculties who work on issues related to Security, Conflict and Peace.
The network engages staff and PhD researchers who all share an interest in complex global challenges and a commitment to finding practical solutions. We believe that these challenges are best understood and approached through interdisciplinary collaborations that rely on a range of methods.
The work of our members has influenced peace talks, helped deliver improvements in healthcare and health to war-torn countries, and contributed to the global debate about public policies to address the Covid-19 pandemic in contexts of conflict or political instability.
SCoPe has organised a number of workshops on interdisciplinary themes, such as conflict & health and conflict & literature; we have supported large interdisciplinary funding applications; and we have established links with external partners, including the Households in Conflict Network and the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean.
