Semi-kinetic multi-scale simulations based on fluid equations are extremely powerful and accurate in describing details of the plasma dynamics. Electron properties are kinetically treated by solving the Boltzmann equation. Our iterative multi-scale approach resolves details of the nanosecond electron dynamics coupled with the chemical kinetics on typical timescales of milliseconds. This allows us to implement complex chemistries with 2-d spatial resolution, using the YPI parallel computing cluster.
