The fundamental basis of any communication system is the signals it employs to represent the information it carries, whether radio, acoustic or optical, conducted or free space. These are usually handled at the physical layer of a communication system.
Our research addresses both the waveforms transmitted within the system, and the signal processing carried out within communication devices, focussing on developing new waveforms, transmission techniques and processing algorithms to meet the requirements of new generations of communication networks, including greatly increased data rates, high energy efficiency, very low latency, high reliability, and inherent security.
