Dynamic spectrum access encompasses techniques to manage radio resources in order to improve the performance of a communication system as a whole. It encompasses spectrum-sharing, channel assignment, interference management and control, and can exploit software radio to dynamically change operating parameters on the fly.
Development of dynamic spectrum access techniques is long established in the Communication Technologies group for civilian and military communication scenarios. Application of AI to spectrum management are of significant interest, to enable coexistence of primary and secondary users in common spectrum, for example in the Licensed Shared Access scenarios, and 5G/6G Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) - Terrestrial sharing.
