Biography

Gayan is a lecturer in Engineering Management in the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology
at the University of York. He received his BEng and PhD in Electronic Engineering from the University
of York, UK.
Gayan is a recipient of the overseas research scholarship (ORS, UK) and University of York Research
Studentship. In 2004, he won the Kathleen Marry Scott Prize for the PhD research that led to several
publications.
Subsequently Gayan worked as a lecturer in both private and public sector universities in Sri Lanka.
While working fulltime he completed his Master of Business Admininstration (MBA) from the
University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, and a Master of Financial Economics (MFE) from
University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Over the years his research interests have shifted from physical
science to management areas such as Management of Technology, Innovation, Entrepreneurship,
Organisational Behaviour, and teaching and learning practices in higher education.
In his spare time Gayan enjoys gardening and playing Tabla.
