Neural Networks for Research Workshop
Event details
This interactive workshop begins with an introduction to AI, machine learning, and neural networks, highlighting key concepts like supervised and unsupervised learning, bias, and variance. Participants will then dive into the heart of neural networks, learning about core components such as neurons, weights, activation functions, and training techniques.
The hands-on session will guide attendees through building and training a simple neural network using popular libraries like Keras and TensorFlow. In subsequent sessions, we'll explore deeper architectures such as CNNs, RNNs, GANs, and more, with live demos showcasing their power in dedicated tasks. The workshop will conclude with a discussion on the importance of explainability in machine learning, addressing issues like bias and fairness.
Audience and Pre-requisites
With hands-on coding exercises and practical demos, this workshop is perfect for researchers looking to apply neural networks in their research or deepen their understanding of neural networks and their applications. PhD students and Post-Docs are also welcome to take part.
You do not need any experience in machine learning to attend, but you are required to have experience coding with Python. You will need to bring a laptop with CoLab installed to work from.
Agenda
A detailed agenda with session topics will be shared to registered participants.
What's included
This event is completely free to attend and lunch and refreshments will be included. Attendees are expected to arrange their own travel and accommodation.
