Ensuring that all aspects of the research cycle are shared and accessible wherever possible.

The University of York is committed to the values, principles and culture of open research. It encourages and supports staff and students to explore and engage with open research practices in their work and study, to maximise the possibility of public and academic impact.

The Open Research team works in partnership with academic and research staff, postgraduate researchers and other staff facilitating open research practice. We provide guidance and training on areas including open access publicationresearch data management and analysing and evaluating research metrics.

Open Research Awards 2024

Now in its fourth year, the York Open Research Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate projects and initiatives across all disciplines which engage with, reflect upon, or advocate for open research practices and principles. Submissions are open until Monday 22 April with £400 prizes allocated to students, postgraduate researchers and ECRs in each faculty.
