The data published by the Higher Education Funding Council for England, identify the percentage of full-time home and EU students qualifying within seven years, and put York in equal fourth place alongside the Universities of Liverpool and Cambridge.
We endeavour to provide our research students with excellent supervision complemented by a comprehensive package of skills training which supports them throughout their registration period

Each university is assigned a variable "benchmark" figure – an average pass rate adjusted according to the profile of its students – as well as a "significance indicator" (SI) to reflect its performance varying from the benchmark. York exceeded its benchmark by six per cent and, along with the rest of the 1994 Group, received a positive SI.
The Director of the University’s Graduate Training Unit, Dr Karen Clegg, said: “We endeavour to provide our research students with excellent supervision complemented by a comprehensive package of skills training which supports them throughout their registration period.
“We believe this holistic approach to the research experience means our students develop as people as well as researchers and the results are testament to that.”
