Solicitors, Stravinsky and a soprano

One of Britain’s leading sopranos Lynne Dawson is the soloist at a concert of the University Symphony Orchestra at the University of York on Wednesday 11 March.

Lynne Dawson, a former pupil of Easingwold School, who sang at the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales, will join the orchestra to perform Berg’s Seven Early Songs. The concert is sponsored by Harrowells.

It will also feature Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring, one of the most exciting works in the orchestral repertoire, performed by an orchestra of 110 players in the University’s Central Hall, conducted by John Stringer, of the Department of Music

The programme will open with the lively, folk-inspired Little Suite by Lutoslawski.
