Posted on 19 October 2009

Calling everyone with an interest in IT in the York area! The University of York is hosting one of just two stops on the UK leg of Microsoft’s Get on the Bus tour.

The event will provide the opportunity to hear industry experts from Microsoft Learning, and to hear about how IT skills are critical to business progress.

It will be a fantastic opportunity for a whole range of people with an interest in IT to engage with some of the industry's leading figures

Andrew Bettany

The Get on the Bus tour will be at the National Science Learning Centre at the University of York between 6pm and 9pm on 29 October 2009. The event is free but admission is by ticket only.

Microsoft staff will explain some of the company's latest software including Windows 7, Windows 2008 R2 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2010.

The Microsoft team will be led by Ken Rosen, the Group Manager of Microsoft Learning USA. He will be joined by Stephen L Rose, Senior Community Manager, from Microsoft USA, Tjeerd Veninga, Microsoft Learning USA's Community Lead Worldwide and Exchange 2010 guru David Elfassy.

The event will appeal to IT professionals, IT-enabled businesses, further and higher education institutions and IT enthusiasts.

Andrew Bettany of the University of York's IT Academy said: "This is a tremendous coup for both the University and the city – the Get on the Bus tour normally only visits capital cities. It will be a fantastic opportunity for a whole range of people with an interest in IT to engage with some of the industry's leading figures. It will also be a superb opportunity to network with fellow sector professionals."
