Plans for transport and cookery workshops for primary school children, a tuck-shop for students with special educational needs and after school clubs for hard-to-reach children in Tang Hall are among the proposals on the table.
The process of developing those ideas, including discussing them with successful business people, will produce more successful projects

The plans will be judged by senior figures from Aviva Life UK, Benenden Healthcare, Northern Rail and the University including John Lister, Finance Director of Aviva Life UK and Chairman of the York Cares charity.
The event is being organised by the University of York’s Community and Volunteering Unit in partnership with York Cares. The unit helps 1,000 students and staff support a wide range of community projects every year.
Jacqui Tesselment, Manager of the Community and Volunteering Unit, said: “In addition to giving their time and energy to supporting existing work, our student volunteers come up with fantastic ideas for helping different parts of the York community.
“The process of developing those ideas, including discussing them with successful business people, will produce more successful projects and give the students valuable skills that will benefit them in their careers.”
The student volunteers will pitch their ideas to the Dragons on Tuesday 8 December and their feedback will be used to shape the projects before they get underway in the New Year.
