First Aid Skills: Bleeding and Blood Loss focuses on the normal structures and function of the heart and blood vessels as well as injuries that can lead to bleeding and blood loss. Simple instructions for managing bleeding combine with the latest 3D animation technology, and live practical examples, to give participants the opportunity to refresh their skills, and give them confidence to use what they have learned.

The DVD will also help to cut training costs by giving organisations the flexibility to provide First Aid tuition in their own interactive classroom demonstrations, or to loan to staff for home use. The 20-minute course can be split conveniently into five-minute sections to fit in with work patterns.
It is the first in a series of First Aid DVDs produced by the University's Department of Health Sciences - an approved Health and Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid training and assessment centre. It incorporates the latest modifications and additions to the format of HSE-approved First Aid courses.
Programme Leader and Centre Manager in the Department of Health Sciences, Gordon Evans, said: "The DVD is an ideal way of updating and raising First Aid awareness for staff, as it can be presented in the work-place minimising travel time and costs.
"The quick and easy format, which can update all members of staff including night and part time staff, is a huge benefit to business. The DVD provides evidence of compliance against CSCI standards and it has also proved to be an enjoyable learning experience!"
