The Times Higher Education Supplement analysed Teaching Quality Assessment and Subject Review results from 1995 to 2002 for all English institutions, giving each institution an average score out of 24. York is placed top ahead of Cambridge and Oxford with the score of 23.13 out of 24.
The table was published in the THES on 9 August 2002. The top five Universities for teaching, according to the THES, are as follows:
Teaching Quality Assessment and Subject Review recorded scores for all subjects in UK Universities for the following: curriculum design and content; teaching, learning and assessment; student support and guidance; student progression and achievement; learning resources; and quality management and enhancement.
