An evening with Alan Bennett

The renowned dramatist and actor, Alan Bennett, will give a public reading at the University of York in July. The evening, his second at the University in the last five years, will be in aid of the Shandy Hall appeal.
Yorkshireman Alan Bennett, is perhaps best
known for his Talking Heads series, but also for his book Writing
Home and a number of West End plays.
The reading in Central Hall is open to all and
tickets are on sale at Waterstone's Booksellers, 28 High Ousegate,
York or from Shandy Hall, Coxwold.
Shandy Hall was the home of the writer
Laurence Sterne, author of Tristram Shandy. It is run by a
charitable
trust which has close connections with the University.
The Alan
Bennett reading takes place at 7.30 pm on Thursday 5 July in Central
Hall on the University of York
campus.

- Shandy Hall, originally a medieval priest's
house, is located in the village of Coxwold on the southern edge
of the North York Moors National Park. In the eighteenth century the
Hall was the home of Laurence Sterne,
author of Tristram Shandy and A Sentimental Journey.
Shandy Hall is open to visitors on Wednesday and
Sunday afternoons from May to September.
