The modest-looking piece of hardware which can make this amazing possibility come true, the new MIDIcreator and the smart card that fits into it, are just two of a range of new devices which will be on show at a leading-edge conference at the University of York next Saturday (30 October).
Exciting new worlds are being opened up by putting together the technologies of electronic music, special needs, therapy and the arts, and the technologies which help people make the greatest use of the movement they are capable of. And the Special Needs Technology 2000 conference at the University is attracting delegates and exhibitors from across the UK to meet and exchange ideas and innovations which can help those with special needs.
Conference organiser Graham Long, Manager of the University-based York Electronics Centre, said: "There is tremendous interest in technology for special needs from teachers, therapists, manufacturers, and of course universities. I hope this conference will be just the start of a long-term dialogue between people in those areas, exploiting the Internet to keep in contact to exchange ideas and vision. York is rapidly becoming a focal point for this area of technology."
