Durham Chief Executive to address York Health Symposium

Ken Jarrold, Chief Executive at County Durham Health Authority will address NHS staff at the fourth York Health Symosium at the University of York on Thursday 30 July. The title of his talk is: 'A View From Here: Servants and Leaders'.
He will be the keynote speaker at the half-day symposium. Other speakers will include Professor Alan Maynard on 'Clinical Governance - From Paper to Practice' and Professor Ray Rowden, former Director at the Royal Marsden Hospital on: 'The White Paper - A View from the Outside'.
The symposium will be chaired by Professor Richard Parish, Head of the Department of Health Studies at the University of York.
The afternoon will close with a discussion and debate in which all members of the audience will have the opportunity to question the speakers on current and future issues in health care.

The Symposium will be held in Central hall on the University campus. It opens for registration at 12 noon and closes at 4pm.

- Professor Ken Jarrold CBE is an Honorary Visiting Professor at the Universities of York and Salford. He was formerly Director of Human Resources at the NHS Executive. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development.
- Professor Alan Maynard is the former Director of the University of York's Centre for Health Economics. He has worked as a consultant for the European Union, the World Bank, and the Department of International Development in many countries. He is also Chairman of the York NHS Trust.
- Professor Ray Rowden was Director of the IHSM, and now manages his own business specialising in the care of mentally ill people in South London. He is a visiting Professor at the University of York.
