The York Policy Engine (TYPE) is the University’s policy engagement unit, dedicated to connecting people, ideas and evidence to drive real-world policy change. As 2024 comes to a close, we've captured some of the key highlights from our work with colleagues across the University over the last 12 months.

This year, working in collaboration with 178 local, national and international partners and supporters, the Festival delivered 251 events to a local and worldwide audience of 58,311 (a 51% increase from 2023) under the banner of ‘The Power Of…’

Our Access and Participation Plan sets out provisions that will be meaningful and effective in promoting equality of opportunity for underrepresented groups.

This year IGDC have entered a new phase which is focused on research and partnerships. They have hosted engaging events for our members; built relationships with development actors in the UK and overseas; and provided support to enable new research funding applications.

For the last 30 years, York Students in Schools (YSIS) has connected hundreds of student volunteers with local schools and nurseries to help raise aspirations and attainment of school-age students in York. 

The PhD Spotlight competition challenges postgraduate researchers to engage the public with their original and cutting edge research, through the medium of an interactive display/experience.
