"I'm a lecturer at the Department of Electronics, University of York. Before my appointment at the University I worked as an arts and music project manager and I've always been really excited about working on large scale events, such as the Millennium Mystery Plays. I'm also a musician and sing in the choir at St. Olave's church, and play viola in the Academy of St. Olave's chamber orchestra. My research focuses on virtual acoustics, spatial audio and musical performance; in particular looking at how singers respond to - and interact with - the space in which they are singing. Reconstructing St. Mary's Abbey acoustic provides a unique opportunity to investigate how singers react to a space which isn't actually there any more! I'll be fascinated by the audience reaction too after the challenge of bringing together audio technology, a new composition, lights, graphics and live voices."
