Dr Yvette Hancock is a Lecturer in the Department of Physics at the University of York, where she researches graphene for future technologies. Her research interests are interdisciplinary and also involve Raman spectroscopy applied to cancer, regenerative medicine, infectious disease and bio-archaeology. One of her aims is to develop Raman spectroscopy for rapid cancer diagnostics. In addition to research, Yvette is passionate about physics outreach. She has written and illustrated a children’s book called ‘Ellie the Electron and the Quantum Circus’ and regularly performs with Ellie (pictured).
