Stuart is a postdoctoral research associate working in the York Centre for Complex Systems Analysis. Research interests include the effects of disturbance on individuals and populations, social behaviour, and how these interact over evolutionary time to affect species’ life history. He is currently working on a project investigating the evolution of menopause in killer whales alongside researchers from the University of Exeter and the Center for Whale Research in Washington state, USA, and has worked with the US Navy's Office of Naval Research and David Lusseau at the University of Aberdeen on the impacts of human activity on marine systems.
