Stephen is a postdoctoral researcher in the laboratory of Prof Miles Whittington. His current research involves understanding the mechanisms behind epileptic seizures in children. The overall aim is to understand what goes wrong during childhood seizure activity, in order to try and suggest ways to stop it.
Stephen studied for a pharmacology degree at the University of Sunderland, before completing a Masters in Research and his PhD at Newcastle University. He moved to the University of York in 2012 to work with Prof Whittington. Outside of work Stephen has 2 young sons and enjoys spending time with his family and multiple pets, which include a 100kg tortoise!
