"My research evaluates the effects of different management strategies of peatlands, such as burning and mowing, on peatland vegetation, greenhouse gas fluxes, water quality and water balance. My work also includes lab experiments to determine which peatland components (e.g. plant roots or fungi) may lead to the observed increase in water colour over recent years, water table manipulations to improve C calculations, and an assessment of the different managements on the nutritional value of heather and species composition. It is hoped that my results will help water companies to improve drinking water quality without increasing costs."
