Mahima is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Grogan group based in York Structural Biology Laboratory, Department of Chemistry. She completed her PhD in chemical biology from University of Oxford in 2015. Her research interests include protein chemistry and engineering enzymes for biocatalytic purposes.
"Biocatalysis uses enzymes to carry out chemical reactions. Having investigated the design of artificial metal-based enzymes during my PhD, I feel excited by the application and scope of enzymes for synthesis of pharmaceuticals/ agrochemicals. My current research is focussed upon discovering such enzymes, in particular imine reductases (IREDs), and undertake structural and biochemical studies thereof."
