"I’m really interested in the many essential benefits that we get from nature. Hundreds of researchers are involved in the Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service Sustainability research programme, working to improve our understanding of how biodiversity underpins the benefits we get from nature and how we can maintain these benefits in a changing and uncertain world. I help to explain this research to many different audiences. I am particularly interested in the physical and mental health benefits of nature. I’m also fascinated by plants that have been introduced to new areas by people and then become invasive weeds. I particularly focus on understanding these alien invasive species in their original native range, in order to better manage them where they have already, or might become, invasive."
