Elena is an environmental scientist holding a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Athens, Greece and an MSc in Contaminated Land and Remediation from the University of Lancaster, UK.
“My research project is focused on the development of low cost, multi-parameter electronic biosensors for the detection of pollutants in surface waters. I have always been highly fascinated by chemistry and the idea of using its potential for improving the balance between human technologies and the global ecosystem. What I enjoy most in my job is doing laboratory work and discovering interesting findings in the process. Also, knowing that my work contributes to the general effort to restore the environment increases my motivation to apply all my creativity, energy and skills to it.”
