Charline Giguet-Covex

Charline was awarded her PhD in 2010 at the Edytem laboratory (France). Her PhD was focused on the study of changes affecting lacustrine and terrestrial ecosystems and the origin of these changes (climate and/or human activities). In order to provide more detailed reconstructions of past environmental changes and their origins, she developed an innovative approach during her post doc at the LECA laboratory (France): the analyses of ancient DNA preserved in lake sediments. This innovative tool allowed her to trace the livestock farming history and plant cover changes. She is now at the University of York as a Marie Curie fellow to continue the development of ancient DNA analyses in order to trace the past dynamic of agriculture and the associated landscape changes in the French Alps.
