Stephen Muir is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds School of Music and is principal investigator for the project ‘Performing the Jewish Archive.’ He was educated at Bradford Grammar School and the University of Birmingham, graduating with a first-class degree and PhD on Rimsky-Korsakov’s operas.
"My recent research has focused on the musical documentation of Russian and Polish Jewish composers who found their way to South Africa through displacement and migration. The ‘Performing the Jewish Archive’ project will bring these works and other rediscovered music and theatrical works by Jewish artists to public attention."
