Lisa Peschel is a Lecturer in the Department of Theatre, Film and Television at the University of York and a co-investigator on the project ‘Performing the Jewish Archive.’ She received an MFA in playwriting from the University of Texas and a PhD in Theatre Historiography from the University of Minnesota.
“In my research I focus on theatrical performance in the World War II Jewish ghetto at Terezín (in German, Theresienstadt) and the effects of those performances upon the prisoners (creating solidarity, linking them with their past lives and longed-for futures, etc.)
