Tropical forests are being lost at an alarming rate. Scientific research at the University of York is attempting to assess these impacts to help improve techniques used by forest managers in Africa. Dr. Marshall has been working in East Africa for 16 years, determining human impacts on animals, plants, and forest health. The work has considerably improved understanding of these threatened ecosystems, and has unearthed some fascinating forest treasures along the way. This talk will also introduce a brand new campaign to find a name for a newly described species with the help of schools and colleges. Also look out for the CIRCLE stand, where you can talk to some of Dr. Marshall's team and even meet a few animals.
