What are microbes? What is antimicrobial resistance? Where does it come from? What exactly is the problem and how big is it? In this short talk Maggie will try to answer some of these questions and show how we can find solutions to the increasing incidence of infections that are resistant to antibiotic therapy. Maggie will explain that the problem arises by evolution and selection pressures acting on disease-causing bacteria and the solutions come from a broad range of actions involving scientists, social scientists and economists.
