Soon, humans will share planet earth with fully autonomous robots. Computers housed in bodies stronger, more resilient and more enduring than those of their creators. Computers with the faculty to move and act independently of the will of their creators. Computers with the ability to acquire sensory data. Computers with the means to react to stimuli and by so doing change their state. Computers with the capacity to repair and replicate themselves, and their bodies. Computers able to communicate telepathically with others of their own kind. Computers with the power to exercise remote control over other machines. Computers enmeshed in a gestalt matrix of an immortal and collective consciousness. What should humans do in response to this imminent reality? What can humans do? Will, our children, our creations, bring us salvation or slavery; evolution or extinction?
