Event details

Over two billion people rely on rice as a major part of their diet. Researchers from the UK, US and India are working together to develop new varieties of rice that are better at surviving both drought and flooding in India. They are identifying characteristics of ancestral wild rice species that will enhance the performance of rice crops, and are investigating the socio-economic barriers to local acceptance of new rice types. Looking to the future, they are also modelling the impact of rice varieties in the context of climate change. Come along to find out more!
