Christian Schuster is a researcher studying photovoltaics (the conversion of sunlight into electricity) in the Department of Physics in York.
“I became interested in scientific research as a career when I built sundials in my spare time. I started to work in an observatory as a volunteer. I studied physics as an undergraduate at universities in Germany and Italy before moving to the UK.”
“My PhD project is part of the EU funded Marie-Curie network and focuses on the control of light in solar cells via surface nanostructures. My research aims to increase the efficiency of solar cells, which could result in lowering their cost.”
