Dr Charles Barton is a member of the Nuclear Physics Group and a Lecturer with the Department of Physics at the University of York.
“My interest in physics began while I was a student in America and I was fortunate enough to be taught by inspirational teachers and researchers in different fields of Physics. I found Nuclear Physics fascinating at University because it involves two of the four forces of nature in a tiny many particle quantum mechanical system that exhibits complicated and beautiful behaviour. I pursued my interest beyond University and continued to work at many different laboratories around the world utilising accelerators and modern detector arrays to observe clues about nuclear shapes and forces.”
