Tony Wilkinson studied Biochemistry at University College London where he became interested in how enzymes work and how they accelerate reactions.
“I gained a PhD in Chemistry at Imperial College London for developing new techniques of protein engineering. I then spent two years as a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University working on enzymes that manipulate DNA. At this point I came to York to learn techniques of protein structure determination. “
“I am now a professor in the Structural Biology Laboratory in the Department of Chemistry at York. In collaboration with other institutions I, and my fellow researchers, have discovered inhibitors that have the potential to be developed into drugs for the treatment of malaria.”
