Allison Green is a senior lecturer in immunology in the Centre for Immunology and Infection, and the academic lead for Applied Science at Hull York Medical School.
“I attained my BSc (Hons) in Immunology from Glasgow University followed by a PhD in Virology, Immunology and Vaccination from St Andrews University. I moved to Yale School of Medicine (USA) for postdoctoral training specialising in type 1 diabetes research, and then returned to the UK to set up my own laboratory at Cambridge University. In 2010 I moved my research group to the University of York. I have received a series of national and international awards for my research.
“Personally, I am fascinated by the immune system and enthralled by its ability to fight any infectious threat to our survival. The challenge of understanding the complexities of a rogue immune system in type 1 diabetes development presents me with the ultimate ‘game of chess’, check-mate being a cure for this debilitating condition.”
