Michelle Alexander is a lecturer in the Department of Archaeology at the University of York who specialises in studying Medieval diet using scientific techniques.“
I have always been interested in the past and wanted to be an archaeologist from first learning how to say the word! Learning about how we know about past societies from the material remains they have left behind really inspired me. I studied archaeology at university because it was a mixture of everything that I was interested in, especially history and science. I’m very lucky to do this for my job and I love how varied it is, I can be lecturing, working in the laboratory, travelling, or out on excavation all in the same week.”
