Katie Keefe (BA, MSc) has been working for York Osteoarchaeology Ltd since 2010. She has been excavating in Britain, Ireland, Eastern Europe and the Near East since 2004 and has been the site osteologist on a number of cemetery sites.
“Having studied archaeology at university I developed a keen interest in the individuals responsible for the archaeology we studied and interpreted. I wanted to learn more about the pottery makers, flint knappers and monument builders themselves. I think they are the most important aspect of our archaeological heritage. The part I enjoy the most is the excavation, being the first person to see the individuals again since they were buried.”
