I became interested in heritage through a mixture of history of art and archaeology degrees. I loved studying architectural history and took that forward to find out more about how we conserve buildings today: not just the grand country houses, but from small barns and vernacular homes to expansive industrial sites.
When I start my week at work, as the Council for British Archaeology’s Listed Building Caseworker for England, I have no idea what building applications will have come in, and that's my favourite part of my job: finding out which of the nation's treasured listed buildings will have imaginative proposals each week!
