This exhibit communicates cutting-edge research in the area of virology through the medium of art and design. Viruses are responsible for devastating illnesses in humans and inflict major economic losses on agriculture and livestock.
We illustrate the structural principles underpinning virus architecture via artwork designed by Briony Thomas in collaboration with the research group of Reidun Twarock. We show sculptures that cover stages of the viral life cycle and demonstrate how mathematics can be used to better understand and fight viruses. Come and experience the mix of art and science with these incredible displays!
