Soil is the basis of all life on land, including ourselves, and yet we abuse it. World-wide, soil is now being lost 100 times faster than it is formed. The consequences of our neglect and abuse of our soils have always been horrific and will be so again unless we stop treating soil like dirt.
About the speaker
Alastair Fitter is an Ecologist with the University of York, and a fellow of the royal society. His research focuses on plant and microbial behaviour in a changing world. He is a representative and speaker for the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, who are working for a county rich in wildlife for everyone.
