As part of the West Yorkshire Innovation Festival, The University of York Management School's Professor Peter Ball will be holding a twenty minute presentation followed by a Q & A session. This presentation will showcase how the capabilities of the University of York Management School expertise could support your organisation become more robust, productive, lower impact, ethical and financially secure organisations.
Looking back we couldn’t have predicted Brexit or Covid-19. But we do know there will always be shocks whether they are caused by volcanos, financial markets, fuel blockages, factory fires, etc. May be carbon tax, energy instability and material availability are the next? By fostering agile and resilient practices, organisations can lay the foundations for more sustainable futures. This could be from developing people, improving operations, fostering innovation, marketing capability and more. We will also provide information on how the mKTP grant funding scheme could help you to leverage funding to support you to become a more resilient business.
West Yorkshire Innovation Festival runs from the 15th to the 19th March 2021 with a wide range of events.

Professor Peter Ball
Peter Ball is Professor of Operations Management. Peter joined The York School of Management in January 2016 from Cranfield University where he was Director of Education for his school.
His research focuses on how operations can be designed and improved. Application areas span manufacturing, supply chain and service. There are two strands to his work. First, the research takes a ‘hard’ view of processes by developing and applying modelling and simulation techniques to understand performance. Second, the research takes a ‘soft’ view of processes by creating and capturing methods and practices that underpin performance. Environmental sustainability and resource efficiency feature strongly.
Peter has published this work in numerous papers globally in journals, conferences and practitioner publications. As a result of this he has co-chaired three international conferences.
He has delivered short courses on manufacturing to the banking sector with the EEF, sits on the IET Design & Production Sector panel executive and is judge for the EEF and IET awards. He is a Chartered Engineer (IET) and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
