One Planet Week event
This event will feature presentations by Dr. Sara de Jong, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Politics, who will introduce the topic of climate (in)justice and post- and decolonial politics and Isabella Hughes, alumna of the Department of Politics who will speak about her MA research on the unexpected role of reforestation events in Kenya and the importance of intersectional analysis to draw out the differential impacts these events have on Indigenous Peoples. It will be chaired by Professor Simon Parker who is the co-chair of the University of York Migration Network.
Dr. Sara de Jong is a senior lecturer at the Department of Politics, and the co-chair of the York Migration Network (MigNet). Her research and teaching interests include migration and postcolonial politics.
Isabella Hughes is currently a Policy Intern for Universities UK with an undergraduate degree in Social Anthropology and just completed her Masters with Distinction from the University of York in Public Administration and Public Policy.
