HYMS Inaugural Lectures

Professor Bernadka Dubicka has over 3 decades experience working in CAMHS and academia, as well as extensive experience with the media and policy. She is a practising CAMHS consultant, the editor in chief of the Journal of Child and Adolescent Mental Health, a past chair of the child and adolescent faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and currently leading a large national trial in adolescent depression. During this lecture she will reflect on the key challenges affecting the mental health of children and young people in the 21st century, and highlight key areas from her work, namely inequality, the ecological crisis and the impact of digital technology. She will also discuss potential solutions to the shortfall in service provision through her work in brief interventions for depression, as well as the need for a much broader focus on prevention and early intervention.

The talk will be followed by a drinks reception.
