Assessment themes
The GANE Advisory Board is currently establishing the scope of the Assessment including thematic areas.
A preliminary non-exhaustive list of themes that could be included is:
- understandings of economic welfare and progress
- the ecological foundations of the economy
- (social) values, choice and human behaviour
- biodiversity and ecosystem services, including regulation of emergent infectious diseases
- supply chain sustainability and resilience
- energy, carbon and material flows and societal metabolism
- integration of planetary boundaries into economic institutions
- the money system, finance and banking
- re-purposing business and corporate law and governance
- employment, income, welfare and taxation
- equality, equity (intra- and intergenerational) and justice, including addressing the unequal impacts of the pandemic
- power and rent seeking
- workers’ rights and just transition
- ecological economic indicators
- accounting and appraisal
- economic education.
