The Morrell Centre has a long-standing research interest in the concept of toleration considered philosophically, in its application to contemporary issues, and in the history of the idea of toleration.
This interest is reflected in publications on the concept of toleration and its justification; toleration and liberalism; toleration, identity and difference, and the place of toleration in the contemporary world; and on Locke’s letter on toleration.
In 2005, at a 25th Anniversary Conference, the Centre returned to examining the core concept of toleration. The resulting papers were then published as Toleration Re-Examined.
