Monday 8 November 2010, 5.30PM
Speaker(s): Professor Hugh Haughton, Department of English and Related Literature
In his inaugural lecture, Professor Haughton will make a case for the primary importance of hearing poetry, but also of the different ways we hear from poets in their letters. In this context he wants to explore ideas about the relationship
between modern poets and their letters, between lyrics and documents, and to pursue the relationship between the different voices and styles of address of poets in their correspondence and those in their actual poems.
