On Satisfaction - lecture

On Satisfaction is the last in the series of three lectures on Frustration, and is about two things: Shakespeare’s Othello and the idea of satisfaction. Taking off from and working through Shakespeare’s play, Professor Phillips will be looking in particular at the links between satisfaction and revenge, revenge and the need for certainty.

Adam Phillips is a psychoanalyst and the author of 15 books, including On Kissing, Tickling and Being Bored, Terrors and Experts, Darwin’s Worms, Promises, Promises, and Going Sane. He is the general editor of the New Penguin Freud, and his book On Balance is due to be published by Hamish Hamilton on 2nd July.

There is also a chance to attend a related Postgraduate Seminar, Morals and education.
