Have you ever wanted to sit in a pub, drinking Anglo-Saxon beer and having Old Norse and Old English poetry recited for you? If not, why not!
Join a retinue of reciters from the Centre for Medieval Studies, led by Matthew Townend, for our annual ‘Beer and Beowulf’ event in the Duke of York pub, as they perform a selection of Anglo-Saxon and Norse poetry, both in translation and in the original.
This year's theme is the strange and fantastic - so come prepared for dragons and otherworldly happenings.
Join us and try some Eoforwic Ale – a beer brewed specially for the Festival from an old Anglo-Saxon recipe.
Location: Duke of York Pub, King’s Square
Admission: Free. No ticket required.
